Lightning Round
So we had a storm roll by us today and it was quite a site. Mugen (one of my dogs) and I took a trip out to an empty field in my truck ( http://www.kbb.com/kb/ki.dll/kw.kc.urr?kbb.CA;241668;CA067&95834;pic&40;Toyota;1999%20Tacoma&5;TT;D9&) and watched the storm. (It was about 20 miles to the south of us, so we got to watch the show with none of the downfalls of rain and cold. YAY!!) One word for this experience. WOW. http://www.strikingimages.com/light7.htmThe last time I got to see something as amazing as this was when I was in a little town in Mexico called Taxco. I got to watch a storm as it rolled up a valley in between two mountains. Just thought I would drop in and leave this quick note. I'd also like to point out my posting times. Apparently my trouble sleeping is worsening. Oh well... | | Monday, August 25th, 2003 | | 12:56 am |
Negative
So I'm sitting here looking over my journal and thinking to myself how negative most of the entries sound. I don't want anyone to think that I am a negative guy or anything, in fact in retrospect I guess I have been using my journal as a bit of a vent. So I apologize to anyone who sat in their chair thinking "man this guy needs some serious help...) I asure you, I am happy and go lucky. In that order. :) On another note, I switched restaurants and all is going well! More money, MUCH mellower customers, and better hours. YAY!!! I still can't wait to get out of the restaurant industry though. I just keep chanting to myself "THREE MORE YEARS< THREE MORE YEARS..." Then I finally get to do what I want to do!! Chat more later this week!! | | Sunday, August 24th, 2003 | | 12:49 am |
Star Wars Kid
You just got to love a guy that is in touch with his inner geek. http://www.jedimaster.net/I think that this kid just got caught doing something that each and every one of us has thought of some time in their life. This is obvious by the AMAZING momentum that he has generated. http://www.cafeshops.com/jedimaster/I mean lets face it. He is popular for a reason, and that reason is that EVERYONE has been where he is. We have all wanted to be in our favorite movie, book, or comic, or book. ALL OF US!! And if you say you haven't ever wanted to be, then you have no soul or imagination. I say we rally around this kid!! But as reluctant as he may be to embrace his fame, their is no excuse for this: http://www.cnn.com/2003/TECH/internet/08/21/starwars.kid.ap/index.htmlCome on people, do you really think those other kids family will be able to give you anything substantial. And will it really solve anything. Your a geek, SO WHAT!! Everybody is somewhere inside. It's O.K. Maybee getting that video up on the net is embarrising, but get over it already. The reason people love this kid, and devote sop much time and energy to this kid is that we all are this kid. Embrace your inner geek and lead us into a new geek friendly millenia Star Wars Kid!! | | Thursday, August 21st, 2003 | | 12:38 pm |
Parking
So aparently it is a constant in life that when you go to school parking sucks. It's like gravity and density. And I've decided that the skills of American drivers are lessining with each passing day. Take for instance the amazing students at Sacramento City College. If they had a blue angels of crappy parkers these guys would be on the team. Lets take a look at their skill set shall we. When parking cars you must have a minimum of 3/4 of a car length in between bumpers. This insures that we can park only a quarter of the cars we should be able to park on the street. Parralel parking should take at least twenty minutes and should include a minimum of 30 moves to wedge your car into the space big enough for three cars. At the end of these thirty moves your car should be a minimum of 4 ft from the curb in the front and 5 ft from the curb in the rear. Through traffic should be required to slalom back and forth down the street if you have parked correctly. After parking your wait to god damn sensitive alarm should continuously beep at nothing in particular and occasionally go off at pedestrians wlaking by. Your I.Q. should be in the negatives somewhere. I HATE OTHER DRIVERS! | | Sunday, August 17th, 2003 | | 2:21 am |
School
School has started so my life has changed dramaticaly. While I'm on the subject, I'd just like to raise our glasses and toast my friend "errors in the fucking course catalog". I'd like to thank the imbecile that published a course catalog with huge errors in the pre-req department. If that personmakes minimum wage they are overpayed damn it. I plan on exploring my boredom issues more over the next weeks, so please feel free to comment on them as you see fit. People
I really don't understand people at all. They go into restaurants and act like they have forgotten everything that their parents have ever taught them about being polite and courteous. Fuck that. The general public needs to remember that the term is server, not servant. It will make all of us in the food service industry a lot happier. And for God's sake, tip more than 15%, we all need to pay rent to. | | Tuesday, August 5th, 2003 | | 10:06 am |
Titanic
Went rafting again today and had another great time of it! Took Mugen with me and was very surprised that he had a great time of it. He went swimming in the river after ducks, and just chilled in the boat having a good time the whole day. He hates getting baths so I had no idea how he would react to this whole thing but he did very well. | | Monday, August 4th, 2003 | | 9:58 am |
Whoa Nelly
So my friend and I decide to drive down the river to the delta city of Antioch yesterday because we are so damn bored. When we arrived we got a bit more than expected. As we are sitting at a stoplight we here sirens approaching. Just then we spot a beat up old car come arounf a corner at 50-60 mph trailing a crapload of cops. He runs right through the red light, t-boning some poor lady in an Accord as she goes through her green light. Both cars come sliding right at my truck while I sit there with no place to go. I swear to you they stop a mere 5ft from my trucks bumper all battered to crap. Then two of the a-holes from the beat up car (wich I later found out was stolen) take of running down the street. The cops pull up and soon "Let loose the dogs of war!!" The dog quickly caught the two idiots that tried to run. So it turns out that these three assholes stole the car in Oakland, and where running around the smaller towns of the delta area commiting 211's (robberies). Both the driver of the "getaway" car and the lady that inadvertently stopped them where both banged up pretty good. But here is the worst part, since the driver of the getaway car, the bad guy I might add, had more injuries and was closer to death, they airlifted him out instead of the innocent victim who was banged up near death, but not quite so near. Where is the justice in that? | | Friday, August 1st, 2003 | | 1:41 am |
Boredom
Sometimes I sit and wonder about my own life, where it is going and such. I'm not to happy with it currently. Shit, I'm about as bored as they come. I feel like life has gone stale. I feign interest in everyday activities, and do just enough to get me by. I have dreams and asperations, but every time that I try and make a move for one, something happens to shut it down. I don't know. I guess I just crave some sort of excitement to remind me about what life is all about. Heres hoping that it comes soon... | | Thursday, July 31st, 2003 | | 2:45 am |
Braile Pictures!?
So I went to Applebees today and saw something that struck me as funny. At the hostess stand was a nice bound book with a colorfull multi picture cover showing employees frolicking while they serve food, and some food items. Turns out that this is the cover to the braile menu. Unless they have smell-o-vision installed I don't think it'll do them a hell of a lot of good. | | Tuesday, July 29th, 2003 | | 11:26 am |
Drunk Devil
So last night about 20 people came over and we all got drunk and watched Dare Devil. It was a good time, and nobody over did it wich is always nice. I think that it would be safe to say that this is the quickest way to ruin any good time. I mean, why even bother over doing it, you just end up regretting it the next day anyway. I can't say this enough, be a responsible drinker. Not just in terms of driving, but in terms of keeping your partying light hearted. As far as Dare Devil is concerned, it is a fun movie. By no means is it a great movie, or a classic, but it is a fun adaptation of a comic book, and is a good popcorn watch. My other purchases yesterday where The Quiet American, and Solaris. I watched Solaris in theatres and was fascinated by it, and will give you all a full report after I have had the opportunity to watch the DVD. As for The Quiet American, nothing short of brilliant. I watched through it this morning and it is a very well constructed flick. Very well written and paced, with far above average acting. As far as I am concerned, Michael Caine was robbed of an Oscar. I can't urge you enough to at least rent this flick and give it a watch, it's great! | | 3:13 am |
River Rafting
Having been raised on the ocean and never having been exposed to the joys of an inland river I had no idea what to think when some of my buddies called me up and said "hey, you want to go rafting?" Had nothing better to do so I went, although slightly trepadacious. Rafting? I figured they ment with canoes or kayaks or something. BZZZZZ!! Absolutly incorrect. When they said rafting they ment it in every sense of the word. Linking 5 inflatable boats together (available at local sporting goods stores for under 80 dollars) we let the current take us away in a flotilla of beer and sunscreen. And hot damn if it wasn't a great time!! Relaxing and conversational would be the best ways to describe it. Not to mention the people that you meet out on the river. (Although nothing so horrible as Diliverance!) Crazy!! Honestly, I can't wait to go again and already have plans to go and purchase an inflatable raft of my own to perpetuate the experience!! Till my next post, happy rafting!! (Thanks to Joel, Justin, and Pat for the good times and good conversation!) | | Saturday, July 26th, 2003 | | 8:00 am |
New journal!!
Well here I am writing in my first online journal and I'm hoping that this will allow me to clear some demons onto the page so that I stop thinking about everything so damn much. I have no idea what will end up popping up on this page but any suggestions will be appreciated. I'll try and post as often as possible! |
